Day 2 Recording - Monday 25th March - all about that bass
Gear
Bass: Ernie Ball Stingray Classic 4 w/ a fender rumble 4x10 c
Amplifier: Kempler
Microphone: AUDIX D6 and A SHURE SM57,
Arrive nice and early to see Chris waiting. Liam rocks up shortly after. We load all Chris equipment into C4 then I bring up the files we had previously. We record with two dynamic mics Shure sm57 and AUdix d6 and plug in using a DI as well.
Couldn’t get sound out the desk, thankfully, liam comes in and presses a couple of buttons and it works. Both himself and me are perplexed as to how this has occurred, however a result is a result.
Chris prefers to record in the control room, which was really easy. Liam and I rotated as engineer, starting/stopping and trimming the tracks as necessary.
Chris is a true professional, after one or two goes he would nail the take. At the end we listened and couldn't hear the differences in each recording. All in all we were done in two and a half hours.
Thoughts?
Honestly this processes was smooth and fun. One thing I was happy with was we were trying to figure out the chords. Chris and I did it with a combination of music theory and splitting the guide track into mono and isolating the guitar.
Also I'm proud that I had Chris record with a guide for his last take, as it gave him a good amount of energy and changed the vibes. He plays more aggressively with guitars backing him.
5 feels out of 5
